WMU meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the FBC fellowship hall.

In 1988, a handful of women dedicated to the cause of missions founded Women's Missionary Union. Since that time, WMU® has become the largest Protestant missions' organization in the world, with a membership of approximately 1 million.

From the beginning, WMU®'s main purpose has been to educate & involve women, girls & preschoolers in the cause of Christian missions. Throughout its history, WMU® has been an auxiliary to the Southern Baptist Covention, which means that it acts as a "helper" to the SBC®. The auxiliary status also means that WMU® is self-governing & self-supporting. Our WMU® supports the following organizations through meetings, age-appropriate teaching & magazines.

• Women on Mission (WMU®), for women 18 & up. Meets the 1st Monday of each month.
• Girls in Action® (G.A.®'s), for girls in grades 1-6. Meets each Wednesday @ 7:00 pm & off in the summer.
• Mission Friends® for preschool girls & boys, ages 3 years - Kindergarten. Meets each Wednesday @ 7:00 pm & off in summer.

Our WMU® offers Ministry Projects:

• Fundraiser for World Hunger
• Operation Christmas Child
• Supports Hospitality House in Huntsville
• Supports Seamen's Ministry in Freeport
• Seeds for the Rio Grande River Ministry
• School supplies for missionaries
• Funds for special needs of missionaries
• Participates in Blue Santa
• Makes tray favors for the Smithville Hospital for 6 holidays
• Supports Smithville Food Pantry
• Cuts out garments for a member to sew for needy children
• Saves Campbell labels for missionaries
• Sends prisoners personal items
• Pure Water, Pure Love Project

We promote giving and Week of Prayer for State Missions, North American Missions & International Missions.
