What Is Girls in Action?
Girls in Action is a WMU missions organization for girls who are age 6-11 or in the 1 - 6th grade. G.A. can help girls in your church begin to develop spiritually towards a missions lifestyle as they learn what God is doing in the world and discover their place in God's plan.
The purpose of G.A.'s is summed up in the G.A. Pledge, Motto, G.A. Scripture Verse, and G.A. Lifestyle Verse:
G.A. Pledge:
As a G.A., I will do my best to live a missions lifestyle that honors God by:
- Learning about missions
- Praying for missions
- Giving to missions
- Doing Missions
- And participating in the work of the church
G.A. Motto:
Go Forward!
G.A. Scripture Verse:
"Give thanks to the Lord. Worship Him. Tell the nations what He has done. Announce how honored He is." (Isaiah 12:4 NIrV)
G.A. Lifestyle Verse:
"The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must treat people fairly. You must love others faithfully. And you must be very careful to live the way your God wants you to" (Micah 6:8 NIrV).
What Happens in a G.A. Meeting?
Lots of missions learning experiences! These include many kinds of small-group and large-group activities. Activities vary to fit individual needs and learning styles of your girls.
During the first half of each G.A. meeting, girls participate in one or more hands-on learning actvities. Then they come together for a group time led by the leader or assistant leader. Group time may include games, mission stories, prayer, Bible learning and other activities.
When is the Girls in Action Meeting?
At First Baptist Church of Smithville, we meet every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (off in summer).
